Storing the lash glue in the optimum conditions can make a true difference in your practice as a lash artist. It’s always important to follow all the manufacturer’s instructions, depending on the products used, because the glue’s quality will certainly affect the final result. Rules for storing the glue in optimal conditions

 

In order to store the hair by hair lash glue in a functioning state for as long as possible, you need to strictly follow the instructions which we will detail. This is applied for all types of glues and it’s a standard in doing the lash artist job to the highest standards. Take into account our recommendations and follow them depending on the glue’s condition: sealed or opened. 

 

How is the sealed glue stored

 

Shortly, keeping the glue sealed in optimum conditions you have to store it in a special container so that it’s safe from high temperatures or general temperature fluctuations, but also from direct sunlight.

Also, if you don’t have any other options available, a sealed glue can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 months in order to keep its properties for as long as possible.

You can order the glue early so that you can use it during the summer, when there are high temperatures. Besides these things, here’s what else you should consider:

 

  • Avoid exposing the lash extensionsglue to high temperature or humidity levels and not lastly, avoid it coming in contact with water. The best temperature to store the glue, and it remains unchanged, is between 8 - 23 degrees C. 
  • During the summertime, when the temperature gets over 24 degrees C, the humidity also grows. High temperature and humidity levels are the biggest enemies of lash extension glues. In this case, find a cooler place where there isn’t direct sunlight and the air is as dried as possible (we use a dehumidifier in most cases).
  • A glue can remain functioning for at least 6-8 months if it’s never been opened and if it’s kept in optimum conditions. After unsealing it, the period drops to 2-4 months, depending on how often you use it. If it’s used daily, it’s possible that it changes textures after only 6 weeks, considering that it comes into contact with air quite often.
  • Don’t store the lash glue together with other products that you’re using. For instance, certain lash primers can contain alcohol, which will affect the glue’s quality.

How to keep the glue opened

 

One of the main rules in the field is "first in, first out". It’s important to use the lash glues in rotation and to always have a backup product in case the manufacturer delays sending an order or if the current glue that you’re using has lost its properties.

Also, you may use makeup napkins that are lint-free in order to clean the glue’s lid on every usage. Even if you unseal and seal it multiple times during an application appointment, the constant cleaning of the lid can extend the life of the used product. Here are some other things to keep in mind:

 

  • After using the glue, wipe its orifice. After closing the lid tighten it as most as you can and then we have to place it in an aluminum bag with silica gel and then we check if it’s closed well. Thus way, we don’t allow air to enter, and the silica gel will absorb the humidity.
  • Transferring the lash extensions glue from its original tube into a different one is strictly forbidden.
  • We don’t keep the glue in the fridge all the time because any sudden temperature change will affect its quality. If you’ve stored it in the fridge, don’t open it right away after taking it out. Keep it at room temperature for a few hours and only then you can open it.
  • The chance that you will work with a glue that is no longer okay is minimal, because you can see plainly when the glue changes its texture – it gets thicker and you simply cannot use it. Before working with any other lash extension glue, shake it for 3 minutes, then place a drop on the glue stone and notice if it’s sufficiently liquid.
