What is the difference between a lift and a perm

Both procedures offer a nice curvature for the natural lashes, but unlike the perm (bio-curling), lash lift regenerates the natural lashes and it gives them more volume.

In this case, the lash lift is also a treatment, while the bio-curling only changes the overall look, not the structure.

Lifting

What is a lift?

Lash lift is a spa procedure for the natural lashes. After this procedure the lashes will be more curved, thicker and healthier.

During this procedure, there are 3 lotions applied generally, each with its own benefits.

The most important step in this procedure is the step nr.3, which hydrates and generates the natural lashes. This contains: KERATIN, VITAMINS and MINERALS!

The lift effect generally lasts between 6-8 weeks.

About the used technique

The hair by hair technique for lash lift involves removing the makeup of the client and also degreasing the lashes by using special hypoallergenic products.

The next step is to apply the gel patches or medical stirps in order to isolate the lower lashes.

By using a brush you will then apply the glue for a direct lift at the lash base, but also on the length of the lashes from the curlers.

You then apply lotions nr.1 and nr.2 from the lift kits, after which you can use the pain, for clients that want to change their lash color.

Lastly, you apply the lash oil, which will be removed by using a degreaser lotion after 10 minutes.

The curlers and gel patches or medical stirps for lifts will also be removed and the last step is to rinse the eyes with warm water.

Advantages

Among the advantages of the lash lift procedure is the following:

  • The process is generally short, lasting about 30 minutes
  • The procedure is easier to undergo compared to applying lash extension
  • You will get a natural and aesthetic look
  • Your lashes will remain curved and long for approximately two months after the lift
  • You don’t have to use mascara

Maintaining the lashes

Maintaining the lifted lashes is similar to the maintenance of lash extensions.

Stay away from humidity for 24 hours after the procedure and remove the makeup in the morning and evening by using a product that doesn’t have oil in order to keep the eye area clean. You may also gently brush the lashes by using special brushes, and for a more in depth cleaning, you can gently wet them beforehand.

Products used

The lash lift kit from Barhat contains everything you would need to get a satisfying result. It contains the 3 lotions that are used during the procedure in order to curb, fix and hydrate, but also silicon strips, the Y brush for combing the lashes, oxidant, glue and Hairwell paint.

Permanent

What is a perm?

The lash permanent is a procedure that will make your natural lashes more curved!

They will be curved by using silicon ‘curlers’ and also the 3 lotions that DON’T affect the natural lashes, as long as you’re using professional products.

The perm effect lasts between 4-6 weeks.

About the technique used

The procedure used in the lash perm is not really different compared to the lash lift. The lash types you can get using this procedure can differ, because their final shape will depend on the used instrument.

The lash perm is a preparing technique for the lift (eyelash lifting), and in this case, the process will last longer. Also, even though the steps and products used are roughly similar, the effect of the lash perm will last less.

Advantages

Among the advantages of the lash perm are the following:

  • Depending on the lash artist that you’re visiting, the cost for an appointment could be lower than the lash lift
  • The effects will look great, especially for clients that have naturally long lashes
  • You will enjoy longer and curved lashes every day for about 2 months
  • You won’t need to use mascara anymore

Maintaining the lashes

After the procedure, avoid touching or rubbing the eye area, because you risk to cause rashes. Also avoid exposing the eye area to the sun for extended period without wearing sun glasses because the heat may affect the lotion that was used on the lashes. If you want to wear mascara after a while, make sure that it’s not waterproof. Besides these aspects, avoid direct contact with water, sauna or facial treatments for at least 24 hours after the first appointment.

Products used

With regards to the products used for the lash perm there are no considerable differences. Both procedures are using three special lotions to clean, curl and protect the lashes. Take into consideration also the lashes natural regeneration process and don’t worry if the hairs start falling after the procedure. You can trust all the products from our site to make sure you will get the best results!

In closing, lash lifts are also changing the natural hair’s structure, as it helps support their regeneration, whereas the perm only changes their look and it can depend on the lashes you want. We hope this information were useful and helpful for you.
