What is microblading?

The microblading procedure is an advanced eyebrow reconstruction technique, that’s applied without the need of a certain tool and which will produce a very natural look. The effect of the applied hairs that are similar with the natural ones is done by using a special tooland different tone pigments.

This effect is really similar to the one from the natural eyebrow hairs. The technique is addressed mainly to clients that want perfect results, but it’s also used to completely redo the eyebrow’s shape if you have no eyebrows at all or they are really thin.

The main advantages of the microblading technique

If you’re not sufficiently decided with regards to this beautifying technique, here are some of the most important looks to take into consideration:

  • The procedure is less painless and quicker than the ones done by using a device;
  • You get a really natural result;
  • The eyebrow’s don’t look tattooed;
  • The disposable needles are 3 times thinner than the ones used in some other devices, which is why the “drawn” hairs are identical to the natural one;
  • The used pigment does not change its color, only its intensity in time.

What are the steps of the microblading procedure

Before we talk about the so called microblading technique stages, it’s necessary to have a real discussion between the client and a specialist where they both identify their desired needs and results. Afterwards, the eyebrows will be measured in order to choose the right shape depending on the face’s features. Lastly, you will also choose the color, so that it better matches the natural hair.

Because the microblading will cause a somewhat discomfort, it’s the same as in waxing or tweezing, you need to apply an anesthesia, that can be reused depending on the client’s pain tolerance level.

The procedure’s steps are as follows:

  1. The work area will be disinfected, and the eyebrow shape will be drawn with a pencil as established. The next step is to shape the hairs inside the done contour;
  2. By using a mirror, the client will check to see if corrections are required with regards to the shape;
  3. The chosen pigment will be applied on both eyebrows via massaging, afterwards they will be left to act for at least 10 minutes. The area will be cleaned and the result will be analyzed;
  4. After about a month, the client will return for a touchup appointment, where the microblading procedure will be redone. They will also add pigment or hairs where they faded away a little.

In order to better estimate the duration of the microblading process, we have to take into account the communicating phase and also signing a form in which the client is informed with regards to this procedure’s counterindications. For instance, the client isn’t allowed to drink coffee, alcoholic beverages or energy drinks the day the procedure is scheduled. Moreover, the expert needs certain information with regards to the client’s health to better determine if this procedure is suited for them.

Afterwards, they present the procedure in detail and they simulate it through a drawing at the eyebrow level to agree on the end result.

Another important step is the external anesthetization, that requires about 30-40 minutes in order to be effective. This time can be used to discuss the proper color or other details. Moreover, the microblading process itself takes less than all the preparing steps.

In short, the microblading process should last in total about 2 hours, but this duration can differ from client to client.

When should I do the microblading procedure?

There are multiple situations where microblading can be helpful.

  • For instance, for the people that have done extensive tweezing over the time and the natural hairs don’t grow properly anymore. You can fill in those empty spaces or you can get a totally new shape with the help of the microblading process;
  • Another situation are the people that want thicker eyebrows, that will frame the eyes. Just because the microblading is a manual process, the result will be really natural looking and aesthetic;
  • Another possible case is the existence of certain scars around the eyebrow area, so it’s important to keep in mind that the pigment will not last if the scars are cheloid;
  • Also, any visible face asymmetries can be corrected via microblading;
  • Lastly, this procedure is recommended for people that have almost no natural eyebrows anymore or whose natural shape is not in proportion with their face.

How long do the microblading results last?

You have to take into account, the same for lash extensions, the fact that the microblading’s durability in time depends a lot on the care you give your eyebrows.

Moreover, you have to know that in the first two weeks since the initial appointment, their color will fade by about 40%. Its final shape and color will be obtained in the second appointment, when you will go for touchups.

In order to enjoy your eyebrows for the longest time after the microblading, you have to take into account the following:

  • Don’t remove the little edges that are formed in the eyebrow area
  • Use the lotion that you got from your expert in the morning and evening
  • Don’t use makeup or any cosmetics on the eyebrow area
  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight for a month after the procedure
  • Avoid excessive sweating and hot water showers in the first 10 days after microblading
  • Try not to sleep on your face in the first 10 days
  • Avoid the pool, sauna or swimming in the first 10 days

Still, even if you respect the expert’s indications, your skin type can be a determining factor with regards to the microblading’s duration. The people with normal or dried skin can enjoy the results of the procedure for up to 3 years, while people with a mixt skin type or oily types can keep the pigment in their skin for 2 years.

The good news, however, is that after you have passed the curing process, you can extend the microblading’s results by using SPF lotion and avoiding using the rough exfoliants in the eyebrow area.
